The Institute for Digital Marketing and Communication Ghana last Saturday ended a 5-day training on Digital Marketing and Strategic Communication for 134 learners who participated both virtually and in in-person.
The training which was held virtually over the first four days was climaxed both online and physically at the Kofi Annan Centre of Excellence in IT at Ridge.
All learners have been taken through various topics such as; Digital Marketing for Strategic Communication, Cyber Security Essentials, Persuasive Communication, Brands Management, Social Marketing campaigns, Social Media Strategies And Tactics, Digital Strategy Development, Content Marketing & Seo, Analytics etc.
Participants were individuals and groups from organizations and companies; such as the Ministry of Communications and Digitalisation, National Health Insurance Authority, Eastern Regional Hospital, Ghana Tourism Authority, GPHA, Energy Commission, Internet Society Of Ghana, GCB Bank Ltd, Ghana Free Zones Authority, Ghana Insurers Association, CSIR – Water Research Institute, African Youth For Sustainable Development, Republic Investments, Ghana National Gas Company etc.
Carefully selected academics and industry professionals took turns to impact learners on various topics.
Martin Thompson Ntem, a lecturer and digital communication consultant presented an overview of Ghana’s digital space and introduced learners to the types of digital media and the various digital marketing platforms and tools that can be used to advance business or organizational goals.
Honutse Ira Emefa Yawa, Business Development Manager of Hollard Ghana also introduced learners to the nitty-gritty of social media.
Georgina Asare Fiagbenu, Senior Manager of Corporate Communications of MTN Ghana took learners through persuasive communication and how to develop communication plans for organizations, products, or individuals.
Participants were also taken through the importance of integrated marketing Communication, IMC, and how it can be implemented for business growth by Dr. Kobby Mensah– Senior Lecturer, UGBS.
One of the 2020 Top Ten women in PR, Shirley Tony Kum, APR, ACIMG who is also the Corporate Affairs Manager at Vivo Energy Ghana exposed learners to elements of branding and how brands can be managed.
The importance of Corporate Social responsibility and Social Marketing was not left out.
Dr. Ike Tandoh, Lecturer & Brand Communication Specialist led a discussion on how best to implement CSR initiatives and how to market them to create social dividends for organizations.
One other important component of the training is cyber security. The cyber security essentials module, handled by Joseph Kow Quaye, Lead Cyber Security at E-crime Bureau; has been designed to address existing and specific issues within the sector, encourage and maintain learning for the prevention and detection of cyber fraud and cybercrimes targeting digital platforms as well as ensure the organization complies with regulatory requirements.
